Description
Just outside Bilbao lies one of the most extraordinary areas of the Basque Country: a
UNESCO Biosphere Reserve where dramatic landscapes, fishing villages and deep
historical memory come together.
We depart Bilbao at 9:00 am in a private minibus with chauffeur and qualified guide.
Our first stop is San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, where we reach the scenic viewpoint to
admire one of the most iconic landscapes of the Basque coast. From here, you will
understand the geographical strength of this land and its close relationship with the sea.
We then continue to Bermeo, a traditional fishing town with strong maritime roots.
Here, we take time to walk through the old town, feel daily local life, and enjoy a classic
Basque moment: a pintxo paired with a glass of txakoli, just as locals do.
The journey continues inland to Gernika, a town that represents the heart of Basque
history and identity. Walking through Gernika, we explore its historical importance, its
traditions, and the profound impact of the Spanish Civil War, understanding the events
that shaped both the town and the Basque people.
To close the experience, we enjoy a final pintxo and txakoli before returning
comfortably to Bilbao, arriving around 2:00 pm.
