Description
Some cities are best understood through their streets. Others through their food. Bilbao insists on both.
This experience combines two of the most essential ways to know a city: walking it properly, and eating in it honestly. Over three hours, we take you through the history, the architecture, the identity and the gastronomy of one of Europe’s most compelling urban stories. One flows naturally into the other. By the end, you will not just have seen Bilbao. You will have begun to understand it.
We start on foot. Through the Casco Viejo, along the Nervión, past the buildings and bridges that tell the story of a city that has reinvented itself more than once without losing its soul. We talk about the Basques: their language, their culture, their stubborn and magnificent sense of identity. We talk about Bilbao: the iron, the decline, the extraordinary comeback. Nothing is rushed. Everything has a reason for being on this route.
Then we eat.
We move into the bars the way locals do, with intention and without hurry. Each stop has been chosen carefully. The pintxos are exceptional. The wines are real. The people behind the counter know us, and we know them. That changes everything about the experience.
Food in the Basque Country is not separate from culture. It is culture. And this is the moment the walk starts to make complete sense.
